Does anyone know when carte-de-visite's stopped being used I have one by J Garratt 115 North St,
Leeds. I could date it if I knew when about they stopped

If you post the image (both sides unless the back is blank) there are Rootschatters who are brilliant at dating photographs by clothing styles.

Cartes de visite were introduced in the late 1850s and seem to have fallen out of fashion sometime around 1905 (give or take a couple of years)
Please help me to help you by citing sources for information.

As PS says we need to see it.
CdeV's were introduced in 1858 but were superseded by cabinet cards in the 1880's which continued to be used into the early 1920's.
CdeV's are smaller & thinner that cab cards & have square corners.
