look up Liverpool please 1851 census

Hi wonder if any one can help. I'm looking for my 3 gr8 grandfather Robert welch. He was born around 1845 in Liverpool his father was James welch. I am having trouble finding him on the1851 census, as sometimes the name changes from welch to Welsh to Walsh. I wonder if a kind soul could look with a pair of fresh eyes for him. Robert joined the royal artillery and was based in London by 1861. He married my grandmother in 1872 in India. Hopefully someone is able to help many thanks steph

James WELCH occ Coppersmith son of Rober occ Cooper married Jane RANDLES daughter of John RANDLES occ Tailor at St Peter, parish church of Liverpool 7 April 1844.

Hi many thanks for the lookups appreciate both your help. Which is better to use ancestry or find my past? I'm having trouble getting to grips with it. Can you  tell I'm a newbie  ;D

Stephanie - www.familysearch.org is a good site to start - it`s free and has a lot of info ...for instance James and Janes marriage date

For Liverpool research Ancestry is better. If you are subscribing make sure your subscription includes access to Ancestry's Liverpool parish records collection.
