The surname McKechnie has been known in this part of the county since the 17th century, as well as in neighbouring parishes in Stirlingshire and in Glasgow. I would be interested in hearing from anyone doing research into this name in this area.

Hi,
I was searching my names at the following site and found this entry:
Logan John 8/7/1845 warper at Glasgow, widow is Mrs, Jean or Jane McKechnie or Logan.
http://www.scottishdocuments.com/content/default.asp
I recalled seeing the surname here and thought it might be of interest to you!

I have several generations of McKechnies ( Alexander, William, Grace, Mary ...) that resided on North Street in Alexandria between 1800 - 1900.

Hi there
I have my family - all McKechnie - residing between Cardross and Renton all early to mid 1800's.
Christian names Hugh, Agnes, Donald, John and some more.
Any connection?
