Durham County Record Office lookup please - Removal order - Jane Wind
« on: Saturday 31 May 14 09:08 BST (UK) »
Hello

Would anyone be able to lookup the following Removal Order (from the Durham County Records Office Online Catalogue) for me please?

Catalogue Title: Lamesley St. Andrew Parish
Type/Category: Catalogue/Ecclesiastical Parish Records
Ref: EP/Lam 7/112 - Order for the removal of Jane Wind, single woman with child, from Great Usworth to Lamesley, 11 January 1816 (1 paper).

My ancestor William Wind, was baptised at Lamesley on 28 July 1816 the illegitimate child of Jane Wind and Job Gray, pitman.  I think the Removal Order above relates to this child, and would love the opportunity to see it.  I wonder also if there may be a Settlement Examination attached?

Thanking you in advance!

Thank you so much. That's terrific. What a nuisance it doesn't name the father!
Was it an actual settlement examination or removal order?  Or an entry in a parish register of some kind?

cheers

Michelle

Thanks, next time you are there, if its not too much trouble, would you mind seeing if there is a settlement examination to go with it? They must have had to examine her, before removing her. The settlement examination is probably the doc that will give more info. It should be in the Great Usworth parish records. cheers, Michelle
