He was not in the Reserve until 1924 unless it states something like 'Class Z' on his medal card. A certain number of men were discharged to Class Z Reserve in 1919 in case fighting started again. The Class Z Reserve was disbanded in 1920 after the major peace conferences.

You may be lucky as they may have obtained a copy of his WW1 record and added it to his 1924 enlistment papers. If so his record would not have been stored in the Arnside warehouse that suffered the fire in 1940.

I would think the chances are good as normally a recruits states on his second set of attestation papers only brief details such as 'ASC four years time expired'. For the Records people to have the actual enlistment/discharge dates may suggest there is more information in the file. You need to ask for a copy of the whole file, and not just a summary.

I had a family member call the Glasgow tel.no. and he was told that they only answer questions on Tuesday and Thursdays which is good to know if others wish to try this route.  They also asked him if he wanted Option 1 or 2.

The good news is they may be able to answer if Record is available but do you know what the Option 1 or 2 is. My family member is 88 yrs old and I would have asked what are the Options but he didn't.  He said he will call again next Tuesday. Lookin2

I have posted previously on this site and as my father's Service Records was not listed it was probably destroyed re Burnt Series.

My father, Pte Ernest Mills, M/40356 (formally M2/054610) and I wrote to the M.O.D. 1989.  With the information given I was able to find the 3 medals given for serving in WW1. 

I have always been puzzled as MOD gave the following:

Enlisted Army Service Corp Regular Army         21.3.15
Discharge on Demobilization                            25.6.19
Enlisted Royal Army Service Corps Army Reserve  26.11.24
Cause of Discharge: Termination of Engagement   27.11.28

I have just found a small bit of information which has faded considerably but I managed to get pieces of it.

Enlisted in Dapple(mentary?) Reserve Company C for 4 years from 28/11/24. London signature unreadable but it has RRO after it.  On same page. a large a/25-006885, Edgeware Road. X4/2470 Edgeware Road.

He did receive a Form Z 11 on 26 May, 1919 at Crystal Palace .  Regimental No. too faded to read. This form had stamps on it for payments made.

Would anyone have info on what the above means.
