I am trying to find information on George Hewson's life in Australia and I am hoping that someone can help.
He was born about 1785, and was convicted in 1820 for stealing two sacks of feathers from a man in Deeping st. James, Lincolnshire where he was from. He was sentenced to 7 years transportation and arrived in Australia in 1821 aboard 'Hindostan'. From convict records I know he was in Liverpool in about 1825, and in Wallis Plains in the 1828 NSW Census employed as a labourer. But after this I have been unable to find anything.
I am trying to confirm that this George Hewson is the same person who married Ann Bromhead in Tallington, Lincolnshire in 1813, and had four children in Deeping St. James. The oldest being Sarah Hewson who married Thomas Frazier, and immigrated to Australia in 1844.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
