Private George Deadman G/75298 Royal Fusiliers
« on: Saturday 24 May 14 15:51 BST (UK) »
I have a War Grave photograph from Northfleet Cemetery Kent which appears to be a double grave
At first I thought it may be 2 brothers but having found the medal index for George it states his mother Lucy Stacey 40 Shepherds St Northfleet has applied for his medals. Lucy had remarried in 1917.
Is there anyway I could find out more about Private George such as his date of birth, father etc
Many thanks

1911 look ups arent allowed, but it would be worth you having a look for George Deadmans with mother called Lucy.

I'll have a look on 1901
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi
I have the census records for the other Deadman -he died at home was Navy he did have a brother George but the mothers name and adress on the medal index ruled him out as a brother to George
I found Lucy Deadman's marriage 1917 but can't find her on the census records.

Looking at the www.cwgc.org I see he died Nov 1918, and presumably as he is buried in Northfleet cemetery he died in this country.

Looking at the death indexes there are only 2 possible deaths -

Oct/Nov/Dec 1918
Paddington
ref 1a 104
George Deadman
age 28

Oct/Nov/Dec 1918
Steyning
ref 2b 678
George Deadman
age 19

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

This is the best I can come up with -
may be a complete red herring

1901
28 The Shore , Northfleet
John Deadman 38 chalk quarryman
Louisa 34
George Webster son 14
Thomas Deaman 12
Arthur Deadman 10
Lucy Deadman 7
Alice Deadman 5
Bill Deadman 5 mths

That would mean Lucy was his sister not his mother, and that he started life as a Webster, even if he took the name Deadman later! (think he is Deadman on next census)
As I say, may not be connected.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex
