We probably need some more information?
What regiment?
When was he born?
Where was he born?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Did you get this information from Findmypast? They are the only source for his service record - assuming he was discharged before the end of 1913. You should also look on Ancestry for his medal entitlement. There were three medal rolls covering the Boer War, and a man may be on all three. These covered Queens and Lkings South Africa medals and an extra supplementary roll for additional clasps for the QSA.

Apart from records on FindMyPast and the medal rolls on Ancestry the only other records are the musters, and they did not exist after the mid 1890s.
It was the 2nd Battalion that was in India before the Boer War. I have managed to discover that the headquarters of the 2nd Bn was here:
1892 Cawnpore
1897 Dum Dum
1899 Dinapore
You may get more by searching any online newspaper archives you can find.

They arrived late for the Boer War. They landed in Durban on 30 December 1901, and therefore just qualified for the South Africa 1901 clasp. If he did not get this he must have been on a later ship.
