Parole Prisoners in Dover during the Napoleonic Wars

Hi everyone,

does anyone know anything about the POW's in Dover, England  during the Napoleonic Wars.  Doea anyone know the name of the Parole Agent to the Board of transport or know where I can access any records about these things.  I have tracked some records  to the National Archives, but will need to go there to see them.  I am looking for a particular French relative that appeared in Dover in 1815 and married a local girl.

What was his name? We may be able to trace him through subsequent censuses.

Hi, his name was Louis Francois Antoine Pique and he does appear in subsequent Census's living in Dover and married twice, there are also a few articles on him. I would really like to trace him to his birthplace in France which isn't on certificates. (from Parsnip)

I can find references to him as Louis Joseph Antoine Pique (1776-1854). It looks as though Louis Antoine Francois (1831) was his son.

None of those currently researching the family appear to have located his birthplace in France, nor the names of his parents. I'm afraid I have no experience of researching French ancestors. It might be worth you contacting the Archives Nationale in Paris, as they may have information on those who served in the Napoleonic Wars.
