i have a john snowdon b 1791 cummersdale cumberland he married hannah and they had a son named joseph snowdon b1839 upperby cumberland
what i need to know is hannahs maiden name nanson as its the only hannah i can find that fits also there son had a daughter named hannah snowdon b1861 upperby but do not know her mothers name/josephs wife any help would be appreciated thank you

Hannah (born 1860) was the illegitimate daughter of Joseph's sister Mary -

Both Mary and Joseph (both of them still unmarried) were living with their parents in Upperby in 1861 census with Hannah aged 11 months.

"Old" Hannah's birthplace is given as Brisco in 1851 and 1861 census, her aged suggesting she was born 1800/1.  Brisco was in St Cuthbert's parish so this seems a likely baptism https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JMRZ-6QB

1841 Census has a Joseph NANSON born c 1762 living in St Cuthbert, Cumberland , with the Lamb Family.

Marriage seems to be mistranscribed;
Joseph NANSON age 21 (birth c 1761) married Mary TULL age 24 (birth c 1758), 26 December 1782, St Cuthbert, Carlisle, Cumberland

So it looks to me that Joseph Nanson is living with his Brother in Law Robert Lamb in 1841 Census

Robert Lamb and Mary Nanson were my gg grandparents.

I have the Nansons on my family tree as I have the will of Robert and Mary's son, William Lamb, who left a bequest to "my Aunt Hannah Snowden of Upperby".

It was in tracing Hannah Snowden, that I found out she was the sister of Mary Nanson, my gg grandmother.

I am not related to the Snowdens but I am related to the Nansons.

I think that the marriage of Joseph Nanson to Mary TULL could perhaps be a mistranscription as almost all of the children's baptism show their mother as Mary FELL?
