Murphys - Wallgate, Wigan from County Clare, Ireland
« on: Friday 16 May 14 16:01 BST (UK) »
Looking to trace relatives based on the following information sourced mainly from 1861 Census:

Bridget Murphy - Head of household - Age 61
Patrick Murphy - Son - DOB XX/XX/1838
Catherine Murphy - Daughter - DOB 28/07/1844
Peter Murphy - Son - DOB 09/08/1847
Bridget Conway - Daughter - DOB XX/XX/1823

It appears that sometime between 1851 and 1861 the above family members ( + others below) came from the Kinturk townland in Kilmaley parish, County Clare, Ireland. It is assumed that the time frame above is correct as there does not appear to be details of the family in the 1851 Census.

From other sources the following information has also been obtained:

Bridget Murphy was Bridget O'Brien before marrying James Murphy, it seems James Murphy was deceased at time of 1861 Census.

There were also the following additional children born to James & Bridget:
-Michael Murphy DOB 06/07/1835
-Judy Murphy DOB 02/04/1831
-Nora Murphy DOB 16/04/1833

Michael Murphy was married in 1857.

All children were born in Ireland.

It may be possible that the above family may have arrived in Wigan along with 2 brothers of James's, Patrick & Michael.

Michael Murphy was married in 1857
I'm not sure Brian if it's the kind of detail your looking for or if you already have it?
There is a Michael Murphy marriage to a Mary Curran at Wigan Register Office/ Register Attended in 1857.
Also a Patrick Murphy to Ann Craig in 1863
and a Patrick Murphy to Margaret O'Connell 1869 Both of them in Wigan
