hello all,
please could someone find out who was living in an address on the 1891 census?

6 abingdon street
barry

i have an ancestor born there in 1891 but a couple of months after the census was completed.

cant find the address on any searches in 1891

The houses are not numbered in the street in the 1891 census.  This is the ref no for part of the street  RG12 Piece  4406 Folio 15 Page    23

How can you assume they are not numbered? Previous leads into Barry Road, at if I remember stops 112, then at 113 starts Abingdon Road.  Did the enumerator just count families in houses and numbered them, along streets    I thought the house number/street or house name was given.  Can any enlighten.

number 6 still exists because it was sold in 2006 according to zoopla. i found a mary and george brown on the census but they r living in barry rd, which abingdon street leads off.

You have found your people in Barry Road. If they are there in 1891 census, we cannot move them to 6 Abingdon Road.

Sorry - I should have said that the part of the street that I found had no house numbers listed by the enumerator - Unless I am looking at the wrong street     

The first number on the page is the number on the schedule of that enumeration district.  Check the heading at the top of the column.   I don't think it is a house number.    The enumerator would usually have included a number with the address if one was obvious.   Nmbers were included for the street in 1901 and number 6 was unoccupied.

there are a brown family living on barry rd with a daughter mary and son george, could it be them?
