Fed up - cost of Inkjet inks
« on: Wednesday 14 May 14 07:41 BST (UK) »
Fed up with paying through the nose for those coloured inks and having less use for them these days, can anybody recommend a black only printer scanner?

Looking round it seems my only option is a laser printer but these seem rather bulky.

Cheers guys.

On your printer setting set it to print in black only. I then set it back to colour for the odd thing I need to print out.

Tried that and it gave no end of problems plus of course it 'insists' on having those coloured inks installed.

I can commiserate with you. I thought I was getting a good deal with an Epson D7400, (bankrupt stock ::) )   It's cost me more in ink than the darn thing cost.

Even when set to print in black only it still seems to use all the colours and for some reason known only to itself the magenta always goes first.

You could try the small* Samsung  SL-M2022W/XEU monochrome  laser printer - only £59.99 at one well known computer store.  Other small ones are available but cost more.

PS - the Samsung all-in-one  Xpress M2070W is also monochrome but costs a bit more and is bigger  :-\

Ironically, I've always got spare in the black cartridges (LL Black and Matte Black and Photo Black for Epson R2400 A3+) - it's the cleaning out of the heads that uses up the inks! I buy cheap compatibles for most printing - most are excellent and cost very little if you buy in bulk.
