Evelyn Mary Kavanagh and Selina (Sally) Vincent Kavanagh

These two ladies were my great great aunts.

Both were governesses in Paris.   Evelyn was governess to Bleriot's children.

Evelyn married a Horace Robert Dawes who was Steward for land in Reading belonging to King Carol of Romania.  They later moved to St Johns Wood in Maida Vale.   They had no children.

Sally married twice.  The first time was to a diamond merchant from Australia and then to a Billy Johnston.  I don't know where they lived in London.  They also had no children.

Any info at all would be appreciated

Hi Carol,

Thanks for your e-mail.    I still would like help.

I discovered today that Selina married a man called William B. Purcell in 1906 in Manhattan, New York.   That's all I know at the moment.

Free BMD has the Sept 1916 marriage of a Selina V M J Kavanagh and a William L A Johnstone the ref is Pancras volume 1b and page 248.

If this is the right marriage,then she reverted back to her maiden to marry here.Unless she didn't officially marry in New York?

I can't see any births for either of the girls though- were they born in the UK?

That is my Selina.   She must have got divorced or her husband died.   I got the information about the American marriage from the Mormon web-site.

I must get a copy of that cert.

I forgot to say that they were both born in Dublin.   Evelyn in 1879 and Selina in 1881.

1. Mabel born 3 Oct.1878
2. Eveleen Mary born 20 Nov.1879
