Looking for any details about Henry Beveridge b. 4 sept 1855 Slamannan, Stirling d. 16 may 1920 Edinburgh. Married 31 dec 1873 Johnstone, Renfrewshire to Euphemia Boyle. His parents were John Beveridge & Mary Fowler.
He is on the 1901 census in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, with his wife & family.  His wife is on the 1911 census in Shettleston, Lanarkshire staying with a daughter and son in law, she is using her maiden name. When he died in 1920 his housekeeper registered the death, he died 13 years before his wife and on the death cert he is stated to be "married to Euphemia Boyle". I can't find him on the 1911 census.
What was he doing between 1901 and 1920?????

Hi,

Women in Scotland often used their maiden names even when they had previously been recorded under their married name so it may not have any more significance than that.

I was wondering if it was worth checking where he might be living through his job.  He may have had to move or decided to work away from home for financial reasons.

Also, have you checked for a testament/will? Sometimes this will reveal information about the family.
