Thanks so much Alan.  This does seem to be tying together.  Could you perhaps help with another query?  My gg grandfather John Henry Hunt b 1872 (Ann's son in law married to Alice) vanishes.  Story his son told is that he disappeared around Christmas.

On the National Probate Calendar, Alice De Reder Hunt, died Manchester 8 Aug 1853,  is described as a married woman. Probate granted to Frank Carlin, Civil Servant, and Edwin Hunt, Retired Water Board Clerk.

I'd be tempted to get a copy of the Probate record to see who Edwin Hunt is. Should give his address etc. Is he really John Henry, or was he invented as John Henry had disappeared some time in the past?

Alan.

The Frank Carlin mentioned in the probate is her son in law, husband of her daughter Doris.  In the 1911 census, John Henry Hunt has the occupation of Water Rent Collector.  A copy of the probate could solve the mystery.  Thanks.
