Newbery - Leicestershire
« on: Wednesday 30 April 14 22:08 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have a relative Thomas Newbery. I think his father was John Newbery (DOB 1811, Ashby De La Zouch), and mother Ann ????   Can anybody give me some more information about the family?

Many Thanks

Eric

Tell us all you know about Thomas Newbery - place and date of birth, have you got birth cert if after 1837, christening record if before, did he marry, if so have you got marriage cert and who does he name as father, have you found him on any censuses etc

Then we cant start thinking about who his parents may or may not have been, but without more info it is impossible to know where to start!
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi Chaps

Yes Ciderdrinker you have the right family.

I now am having trouble in finding a marriage between a Francis Newberry. (Newbery), and Hannah, (I have tried Ancestry, findmypast and familysearch. That is no to say they haven't got it, but merely i cannot see it. If no one can find further information I guess I may need to visit Leicester Records Office. I have looked at Census's but cannot, for definite, find either Hannah or Francis.

Cheers

Eric

Francis and Hannah marry at St Helen, there's burial that might be worth noting but no age mentioned at Ashby

There is a burial at Ashby for a Francis in 1864 aged 71, but he is the one that married Ruth.

Burial at St Helens, Ashby De la Zouch
Hannah NEWBERRY - 18th March 1851 - aged 75

It is a shame that Hannah didn't quite make the 1851 census on the 30th March.

No burial for a Francis Newbery, but there is this one, which is likely to be him ....

Burial at St Helens, Ashby De La Zouch
Francis NEWBURY - 6th Dec 1836 -aged 68

Hannah is here in 1841 - HO107/ Piece594/ Book2 - Orgill's Yard, Kilwardly Street, Ashby de la Zouch.

Thank you everybody for your help.

I have done my best to trace birth records.

I assume Hannah Mason was born in C1776. i have found a Hannah Mason with a christening at Thornton, Leicester in January 1774. Parents William and Hannah.

For Francis Newbery I assume a year of birth of 1768. I cannot find a 'suitable' candidate on Ancestory.com or FamilySearch. Does anyone have any ideas.

Dizzifish - May I ask where did you get the information about the marriage by Banns? Is it me and the details where on Ancestry, findmypast etc and I just missed them? Is there any information that may lead us to the parents of Hannah and Francis that the marriage banns may help with.........so many questions!!!

Cheers

Eric
