Looking for school records
« on: Monday 28 April 14 12:18 BST (UK) »
Can someone advise please? How would I find the most likely school attended by a family c 1890's?  Were irish schools specific to religous groups or multi-denominational?  Would it just be a question of finding the nearest school to the home address and seeing if records exist?  Thanks

The National Schools were generally multi-denominational, as were some private schools. The only records that I have come across are for the National Schools. Those that survive for what is now Northern Ireland (your post is on the Antrim board) are deposited in PRONI.  You would just need to search for schools around the area your ancestor lived.

Attendance records are under the SCH series of files at PRONI.
