HI there

Im after finding out about a lady born in 1931, Joyce Hirst, to John William Hirst & Edith Maude Banks.
She married Allen Greenwood in 1949, producing 1 offspring,in 1949, and their relationship ended. but she had another baby girl around 1953...did she re-marry?..i dont know

she abandoned the baby around 1954-55, possibly in Portsmouth Hampshire, her father (john William HIrst) attended the court hearing with her, she was sentenced to 6months imprisonment.

The person in question is now deceased.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thank you so much in advance! x

I see there is a thread on Genes Reunited concerning this matter which was done in May 2012.

The newspapers covering the Darlington area are the Northern Echo and the Darlington & Stockton Times.  These are all microfilmed and kept at the Darlington Local Studies Library.  As far as I know these have not been digitised/put online and it would be a very tall order for someone to look through two years worth of newspapers.  Unless you can narrow this down to a shorter period of time, it would seem an almost impossible task... :(
