Just adding updated info for this BECKENSALL family (I contributed to the earlier thread on the New Zealand board back in 2010 in response to "mcgyver's" enquiry. )

Birthdate for Walter Herbert BECKENSALL is 26 April 1883.   ["mcgyver" had given this previously in NZ thread as "25 April 1884".   The date of birth is able to be deduced from the online NZBDM listing by "tinkering" with days/months. ]

Arrival of BECKENSALL family in New Zealand :

Per ship "Tintern Abbey" - departed London, 7 January 1875 / arrived Canterbury, NZ on 3 May 1875.

BECKENSELL  [Name originally entered on passenger manifest as "BECKWITH" - with correction noted as "BECKENSELL". ]

- George - 37* years - County: Berks. - Occupation:  Labourer
- Jane - 32 years
- Fanny - 12 - (transferred to Single women's quarters)
- Thirza # - 7 yrs
- Albert - 5 yrs
- Alice # - 1 yr

This is probably George BECKENSALL and family on 1861 census. There is perhaps a hint in the name of sister Thursa. George was apparently born around 1850
