Re-posting my interests in researching my SAMWELL and SAUNDERS circus folk.

Abraham Saunders was protégé to Astley 1760s - his brother Samuel was an equilibrist from 1750s. Abraham's children Abraham (AKA Young or Master Saunders) an equestrian and Sarah an equilibrist late 1700s - early 1800s.  I feel sure they were Jewish.

Samwells travelling circus from late 1700s to 1840, thereafter Samwell folk were equestrians, wire walkers, clowns, (etc) throughout the world.  The earliest Samwell, Stephen (c1771 - 1816) was originally surnamed Samuel and probably Jewish.
