Here's a deciphering problem for clever Rootschatters
« on: Friday 18 April 14 11:38 BST (UK) »
Has anyone any idea what this name is? I'm sorry that's all I've got and as it's a signature, showing other names on the list won't be of any help.  He was aged 28 in 1881, so born about 1853 in Halifax, Yorkshire.  This is from a crewlist and the people who run the lists have come up with a suggestion, but I'm not convinced.

I thought the last 3 letters looked like kar, so having trawled through births of anyone called Henry born Halifax 1853 +/- 1, I think this may be  possible.

Henry Schischkar
Born June 1854
Halifax 9a 436

There is a Masters and Mates Cert for him dated 1873 on Anc...
