  ... s/o Mr W. G. DURHAM ... (Harry) spent some of his boyhood in Japan where his father was engaged in the Railway Service  ... he arrived in New Zealand in the early eightie's.
Married Emily BISSET [aka Charlotte Emily BISSET, d/o William BISSET - on 24 September 1895 - brief newspaper report].    The couple had no family ... (and) Mrs GEORGE, Miss DURHAM of Waihi and Mrs PRICE of Auckland, nieces, are the nearest surviving relatives.

William George DURHAM (father of Alfred John) begins appearing in Auckland newspapers from c. 1885.   For some years he worked as head bailiff / Sheriff's officer (Auckland Council ?) and later as the manager for the Auckland Merchants and Tradesmen's Account Collecting and Debt Recovery Association.   [search on "Wm G. DURHAM" ].

In case you don't have this, William George DURHAM, died 1895 and is buried at O'Neills Point Cemetery, North Shore, Auck.        His wife Ellen (recorded as "Hellen" or "Helen") died in 1893 - cemetery record at Purewa Cemetery (Auck.)

There is also a probate file for William George DURHAM at Archives NZ, Auckland.

Ethel May DURHAM (d/o Annie and Alfred John) married in 1934 to Thomas Quinton McLEAN.

Archives NZ (Auckland) have a Divorce file 1946 (restricted), for this couple.

Ethel May had a further marriage in late 1940's.
