Kate McKinnon/John McKinnon/Hughina Mckinnon or MacLean

I am looking for information about my family from Scotland. My grandmother's name was
Hughina Stokes and she was  married to Charles Stokes. They were married in 1913 in Glasgow Scotland. Hughina's mother was Kate McKinnon not to sure who her father was possibly a MacLean from Oban.  At the time of their marriage I believe Kate McKinnon was deceased. The 1911 census
shows that Hughina at age 19 lived with her Uncle John McKinnon (Kate's brother) in Glasgow. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The 1901 has a Hector & Kate McLean with a daughter Hughina aged 10 - all b Oban

I am questioning the marriage certificate of 1913 between Charles Stokes and Hughina from
family discussions. The marriage certificate states that Hughina's mother is Kate McKinnon which is correct with the father's name as John McKinnon (I believe this in not correct and this is her Uncle's name-John McKinnon (kate's brother). It is believed that Kate McKinnon had Hughina out of wedlock and Kate never married Hughina's father which could be a Maclean from Oban. My father's name was Robert MacLean Stokes and I believe the MacLean came from his mom's family (hughina).

The 1911 census states that Hughina's surname is McKinnon

SP has a Catherine McKinnon marrying a Hector MacLean 1892 Kilbride Argyll.If correct after Hughina's birth.

Nothing for a Hughina Maclean.

Have you looked for Hughina's birth cert on Scotlands People?  Downloading a copy would give parental details.

She wouldn't be the first illegitimate child to make up a fathers name when she married so as to appear "respectable"

Maybe with more info we can link Uncle John McKinnon (age and place of birth etc) from 1911 to Catherine/Kate Mclean and their McKinnon family? The marriage cert for the family you have listed Jim from 1901 will also help a lot!
