The wedding takes place at Auckland today of Miss Violet Lodder, daughter of the late Mr A V Lodder of Wellington, who is marrying Mr Joseph McMahon, Proprietor of the Queen’s Theatre, Auckland, and brother of Mr Charles McMahon of Wellington and Mr James McMahon of Sydney, all well known in the theatrical world
Observer 31 Aug 1912
Joe McMahon has gone and got married and this is one of the bouquets, or handfuls of rice or old silk slippers or anything that spells luck. The charming young lady who is now Mrs Joe was Miss Violet Lodder, a name not so well known in Auckland as in Wellington, for the late Mr Lodder, father of Mrs MacMahon, kept the City Buffet Hotel for so many years that most men in the windy city have at some time sampled his brew. The name is also well known in connection with the Belle Vue Gardens and its hotel – a spot of sylvan beauty just outside Wellington, winded-swept Wellingtonians go for a little calmness and perfume of flowers on Sundays. Miss Violet Lodder, before the marriage to the picture emperor, assist the firm in conducting a pass office. Congratulations!
