McGibney/ McKeachie marriage lookup please

Hello All
           Can any kind soul help me out
I'm looking for a marriage record of a  HUGH MCGIBNEY and a MARY ANN MCKEACHIE....they were both born in Wigtownshire( Hugh-Kirkinner ....Mary A-Mochrum)

I estimate their marriage to have been in 1877/78

I have searched on scotlandspeople but no records showed up....

has anyone any idea how I would find them OR are able to lookup a marriage record from this area(I am only assuming they were married in Wigtownshire as they seemed to live there their whole lives)

ANY help would be greatly appreciated......

The only thing i found for this couple was possible birth for Mary Ann

There are 3 possibles

 1. MARY MCKEACHIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 14 MAY 1843 Penninghame, Wigtown, Scotland
 
 2. MARY ANNE MCKEACHIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 15 OCT 1844 Terregles, Kirkcudbright, Scotland
 
 3. MARY MCKEACHIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 19 OCT 1855 Wigtown, Wigtown, Scotland 

The seocnd one is in Kirkudbright which neighbours Wigtown.
I oculdsn't ifnd anything for Hugh McGibney.
What makes you estimate their year of marriage?I also checked on 1851 census which if your estimation of marriage date is correct they would have been born around that time. There weren't any McGibney's on there at all and no McKeachie in the parish of Mochrum.

Have you found this couple on a later census giving these birth places?

thanks for the effort to look them up!

I estimated their marriage to be around that time as in the 1881 census they are married with 2 daughters ...the eldest being three. I found them at KIRKCOWAN Wigtown ....Clugston Cottage.
In this census Hugh McGibney's birthplace is Kirkinner Wigtown .....Mary Ann's (McKeachie) is Mochrum Wigtown ....He is age 30(b. 1851) she is age 22 (b.1859)

I found Hugh on the 1871 census lliving in Kirkinner Wigtown ..ln this census his last name is spelled .....
MCGIBBONEY 

Mary Ann I haven't found on that census as I think her name was spelled differently too. I have found 2 possibilities though whilst searching but do not have direct access to this census....

1871 McGHEE      Mary Ann   F 12   GreenockNew or Middle       Renfrew

Going on the birt info you already had a checked the births for Mary Ann McKEACHIE again.
This time found a possile born 19 OCT 1855   Wigtown, Wigtown, Scotland
Parents Jonh McKEACHIE & Margaret THORBURN


This was from the LDS site which has pretty good coevrage for Wigtown.
I didn't find a marriage for this couple though and when checking 1851 census for margaret THORBURN there were no matches although a few for John McKEACHIE.

The 1871 census info you have, was this form Scotlands People. If so you should be able to view the entries on there by paying a £6.00 fee which gives you 30 credits.
Mine have now exoired so i can't view them at the moment.

I also checked again for Hugh's birth trying the spelling variation and came up with the following

Hugh McGIBBONY christened   04 OCT 1849   Glasserton, Wigtown, Scotland
 Parents Hugh McGIBBONY and Elizabeth DAVIDSON

This was the only possible in the whole of Scotland for any year!

Rememer the census can be mis transcribed or information noted incorrectly so it is worth considering these possibilities.
I didn't find a marriage for this couple either.

I did find 2 more children for them.

If you look down the left column you will find a surname link. Click on that and go to the M.
The si someone who is researching the McGIBNEY surname and all it's spelling variations. If you click on the number beside the entry this will give you her details to contact her.
The same applies for your McKEATCHIE surname too,

They were married 17 February 1880 in Barlae, Kirkinner Parish, Wigtownshire County Statutory Marriage 889/00 0004 under Keachie.  MaryAnn was born 31 October 1858 in Mochrum Parish, Wigtownshire County and her parents are William McKeachie (son of John McKeachie and Margaret Laird) and Agnes Kerr (daughter of John Kerr and Helen McCutcheon).  MaryAnn is an older sister to my great grandmother Elizabeth (Bessie) McKeachie Kerton.  Hugh was christened on 4 Oct 1849 in Glasserton with the parents Amanda already listed.  I do have quite a bit more on this family if you are interested.
