Could anyony help me trace a Mary Kipling she married George Wilkinson in Queensland, their daughter Alice Olive Wilkinson married Alfred Atkinson of Cairns, formerly NZ and Uk. Alice was born in Cairns Dec 1877. Her mother Mary was a cousin of Rudyard Kipling. Also any info on George Wilkinson would be appreciated.

Hi,

I don't have the Queensland BDM index, but you can ask for a look-up with the Queensland Family History Society at:

http://www.qfhs.org.au/e-research.htm

They are very competent researchers, have a quick turnaround, and only ask for a donation for their services.

The Society's library is very extensive, including BDM indexes, electoral rolls, an extensive cemetery record collection, etc.  They should be able to find something for you.

Mary Kipling married George Wilkinson 10 Aug 1864 Ref 1864/B001035 (B indicates Brisbane)

They had the following children
Frederick James 6 May 1867  1867/ 000227
Joseph John 01 Apr 1869 1869/000217
Edith Margaret 4 Feb 1871 1871/ 000175
George Arthur 01 Jun 1873 1873/ 000361
Beatrice Ethel 8 Jun 1875 1875/ 004177
Alice Olive Jane 22 Dec 1877 1878/ 000804
Alfred Edwin 20 Mar 1880 1880/ 001008

Two deaths
Ernest Charles 13 Jun 1883 1883/000935
Ambrose William 15 Jul 1883 1883/000942

The latter two don't appear in birth records??? Perhaps they were born in another state/country?

Alice married Alfred Atkinson 29 Jun 1901  1901/ 000274
I found 4 children to 1912 - Do you need these ?  Let me know if you want the details.

Did Mary die in Queensland? I didn't find a death pre 1914, but fiche are available to about 1960 at libraries etc. Her death certificate should specify her parents, and where she was born, which would help to find the Kipling connections
