Michael Connors & Mary Callaghan
« on: Monday 24 March 14 08:53 GMT (UK) »
I have been searching for over 30 years for the origins of my great grandfather William O'Connor/Connors.

From his 1883 NZ marriage certificate (the only source document that I have been able to find which gives any details of his origins) he stated that his parents were Michael Connors, a mariner & is wife Mary formerly Callaghan, and that he was born in County Cork.  From other records it is clear that he would have been born in about 1852.

I'm afraid that is all the information I have - its not much for 30 years of trying!

Nevertheless, I wonder if anyone has come across a William O'Connor/Connors, born circa 1852 somewhere in County Cork with parents Michael Connors & Mary Callaghan?

Any help very much appreciated.

Robert O'Connor

William's marriage certificate records the surname as "Connors".
