Hi Ann,

I've had a look and can't find a marriage between Herbert and Emily. Perhaps you could order a birth certificate for one of the children. This will give the mother's maiden name.

Cheers,

Ros

As Ros has said, you really need to obtain a birth certificate for one of the children or Herbert and Emily's marriage certificate.  The former would give you Emily's maiden name, and the latter, both their father's names and occupations.  This could prove invaluable when checking census returns.

The complete GRO indexes are available at LDS Family History Centres worldwide, and County Record Offices in the UK.  They are also available online- pay to view at 1837 online.
