India court transcript from 1904
« on: Thursday 20 March 14 11:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I've found a reference to a divorce case for one of my ancestors, referred to in a later court case.

http://indiankanoon.org/doc/1627999/

Quote
8. On the other hand, learned counsel for the respondent has placed reliance on Grace Hannah Wingrove v. Arthur Clement Wingrove 1904 Punj LR 296, Run Bahadur Singh v. Lucho Koer (1885) ILR 11 Cal 30l (PC), Midnapur Zamindari Co. Ltd, v. Naresh Narayan AIR 1922 PC. 241, Ali Ahmad v. Amarnath AIR 1951 Puni 444, Asa Bai v. Prabhulal AIR 1960 Rai

Does anyone know how I would go about obtaining a copy of the 1904 transcript, if it is even possible.

Thanks
John

"Punj L R" = Punjab Law Reporter?  296 being the page number.

1904 is "Volume 5", as far as I can tell - and copies are held in the UK at the British Library, and at SOAS (University of London).  If you're not in the UK, you can check for where near you holds copies:
http://www.worldcat.org/title/punjab-law-reporter/oclc/1763180&referer=brief_results

The BL will do digital copies (not sure how much it would cost, likely to not be cheap).  Otherwise, if you can get to London, it's possible to get day entry to the SOAS library (for non-commercial research it's free if you're only visiting a couple of days a year).
