Am totally lost
« on: Tuesday 18 March 14 18:09 GMT (UK) »
???Hello all.Have been doing research to find my dad's people on his dad's side,as he knows really not that much.I think it is sad not to know your roots, and where you came from!
Am looking for any information regarding his grandparents.....Charles Alfred Waugh, married to Hanna Jane Hill,Weyburn Saskatchewan,Canada...no dates known. They had a son (his father) named William Francis, born  July 21,1908.Married his mother in Chelmsford,Ontario. Her name was Christine Groulx,(born in Chelmsford,August 13,1915)He was killed in 1947,Christmas Eve, by a cab driver who was driving drunk.MY grandfather was delivering a piano to children in hospital to enjoy Christmas.
This is all we have ever known....can someone PLEASE help?!
Thanks so much ;D
PS...the grandparents of my dad were Irish, possibly with early Scottish roots.

They can be found in the 1891 Canadian census

This gives Francis Waugh's date of birth as 1850 Ontario and says that his father was born in Ireland. Francis was a farmer.
Ann Waugh was born in 1853 Ontario and her father was also born in Ireland.
Children are:
Marsilla Waugh   16
William J Waugh   14
James A Waugh   12
Ellen Edith Waugh   10
Thomas B Waugh   8
Charles A Waugh   6
Ernest L Waugh   5

All born Ontario

You do need to check though if this is the correct family as there seem to have been others with similar names.

If you have access to Ancestry, there are trees on there with this family, some include pictures. You may be able to see them through Mundia, which is free to join,  http://www.mundia.com

Don't get too wrapped up in the ages or years of birth. From research I have found they change on every document you will find. You have to look for the similarities in your search to see what fits.

You can also go to Ancestry to search the 1921 census of Canada for free. You can also search for census at Library and Archives Canada. I don't have the site off hand but you can do a search and it should pop up.

You can go to Family Search. Org to look for bmd's as well. Let us know if you think this is the correct family and we will continue to look for info for you.

Hello lost

I might have some information on your Waugh relative. My Aunt's  maiden name was Waugh  and her family came from the Albermarle area of Bruce North.

I will have to look through my files to see what I can find. It might take me a couple of days to go

through what I have.

Where do you live?

Are the Reid's you are researching from Nova Scotia or elsewhere. If Nova Scotia, which county? I have done extensive research in Nova Scotia and may be able to give you some pointers.

The Reids are from Scotland originally, but settled in the Upper Musquodobit area in the early 1800s.
We found David Reid ,born 1831,died 1898...married to Janet Hamilton, born 1829,died 1897.They were married in 1852,in Musquodobit,Nova Scotia. They had 2 children(that we know of)Frederick and Jessie Anne Reid.David's parents were William Reid, and Mary Grant.....no dates known at all....that is where we got stuck  :o
Any help you can give is so appreciated.....Bless you  ;D
