I see what you mean - but if, instead of "Search All Records", you choose "Life Events" and then choose "Births and Baptisms" you only get results for that section.  In the same way you will only get results for "Wills and Probate" if you specify from the drop-down menu under Life Events.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks for letting us know omega  :)

I've also found that you can't view the images of original parish records with IE but they are working on it. You can with Google chrome apparently.

It seems to have good points and bad points and like all changes we have to learn how to navigate.
It surprises me that they haven't corrected everything before we get to use it but perhaps they needed feedback  ::) :)
Best wishes HL

If you have a look here at the second comment which is for "Improve features to bring in line with the old site" and more specifically the second paragraph of the comment, they claim they had a lot of feedback prior to launching the site - http://www.rootschat.com/links/0yp3/.  Although who exactly they got to give feedback remains to be seen as haven't not seen anybody suggest they did this. ::)

The filtering system when you search all is what drove me crazy on FindMyPast.com.au and was one of the reasons I decided to keep my subscription with FindMyPast.co.uk and not switch as FindMyPast kept urging me to do.     ::)   :(

Except when I searched like that under Wills and Probate, I not only got my 2 x g.grandmother's will, I also got the 1851 and 1861 census where she appeared. ::)

Yes you are right for this particular example there is an alternative you can use, and it works  :) :).

But there are many many examples where going to a specific set under 'search all records' which have been implemented wrongly. We, as paying subscribers, shouldn't have to look for alternative ways if one way of searching has been implemented wrongly.

There appear to be faults in the searches everywhere. I selected 'Live events', 'Births and Baptisms' as you did, and then browsed the record sets available. You would have thought by selecting 'Births and baptisms' that you would be presented with a selection of differet birth and baptism sets, but it gives you a selection of all sorts (including marriages and burials etc). I selected Warwickshire burials to see what would happen. You get no records at all, but why is it there in the first place under births and baptisms.

The record set presentation appears to be a mess as it stands whether using the new top level searches and applying filters, or trying to go directly to a particular set. I'm still of the opinion that it shouldn't have been released in this state.
