Looking for Information on Alexander Forsyth who immigrated to Canada around 1911 His family followed in Nov 1912. Janet Mitchell Forsyth (nee Nisbet) Janet, age 23, Alexander age 10 and Margaret, 7. I think they lived in Hamilton, Ontario

The 1921 census shows this family at 33 hope Avenue Hamilton Ontario - although age would vary from what you gave.  ???


Alexander Forsyth  53 Born Scotland. Immigrated 1912. Labourer.
Janet Forsyth  54 Born Scotland. immigrated 1912.
Alexander Forsyth  19 Born Scotland. Immigrated 1912. Labourer.
Janet Forsyth  16 Born Scotland. Immigrated 1912.

Hi Sandra   Yes this is the family I was looking for. The Janet aged 23 in my query was the daughter who married in 1918. but I wonder who the Janet aged 16 is, she is not listed in the passenger list. Many thanks

Alexander and Janet Mitchell are buried in Woodland cemetery.  Online family tree states that Alexander died in 1943.  Death for Janet Mitchell is Jan. 31, 1932 in Hamilton.  Alexander and Janet were living at RR #1 Millgrove at the time.

Since you have the marriage of Janet in 1918 do you also have the marriage of her brother James to Rose Ann Moore in 1916.  It looks like he converted to Catholicism.  He is on the 1921 census with 3 children.

You didn't mention Robert who appears on the 1901 Scottish census with the family.

Hi   Yes Robert is in the 1901 Census but not in the 1911,at least I have not found him yet. I have found out that James married Rose Ann  in 1916. I did not know  who converted but I remember my aunt, Helen Stewart Nisbet visiting Canada to see someone being ordained

Robert married Nellie Bradley 18 Aug 1926 Wentworth County and Alexander married MabellFlower 30 Aug 1923 Wentworth County.
