The children I have listed for Amos & Elizabeth Hull Hilton are; Ann 1809, William 1811, Sarah 1813, Hannah 1817, John 1821, Mary 1823, Joseph 1826 and Alice 1830.  So far, I can only find that Hannah came to the US and stayed. Alice married William Ryder, moved to Penn, USA for a while...I think William died and she moved back to Yorkshire.  I haven't found any evidence that the others went to the Us

Those are the names in the Baptisms I found as well, I also think that Elizabeth's surname is Hall rather than Hull I can't find a baptism in the area for a Elizabeth Hull but there's one that would fit for a Elizabeth Hall born 21 April 1784 baptised 25 April 1784 All Saints Darton  father John of Mapplewell (next village) occupation Carpenter.
If your interested I've found the burials for Amos & Elizabeth in Barnsley Cemetery
Amos Hilton age 82 of Taylor Row buried 12 July 1868 section N plot 324
Elizabeth Hilton age 79 of Taylor Row buried 13 March 1864 section N plot 184

Thank you so much, Carolanne!  that fills in some blanks!  Does anyone have any suggestions about how to know exactly who George Wood's parents were.  I can't find an obit for George, who died in Penn., USA in 1885.  When I looked at baptism records several years ago, I could only find George that seemed to belong to Joseph & Elizabeth, with the occupation for Joseph being WIRE DRAWER.

I've had a look and if we presume that George was born around the same time as Hannah I can only see the same as you maybe somebody else can find it.

Hi

You are definitely right about his parents being Joseph and Elizabeth, on here he gives his D.O.B as 28 Dec. 1816 England

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=wood&GSfn=george&GSbyrel=all&GSdy=1885&GSdyrel=in&GSob=n&GRid=14538828&df=all&

On the images on Anc* it gives his birthdate 28 Dec. 1816 and baptised 19 Jan 1817 son of Joseph and Elizabeth.

yes, that is the info that I have.  I have his name as George D. Wood - I don't know what the D is - but his first 2 children were named Joseph and Elizabeth, so I don't know if his grandpa could have also been George.  Does anyone have any ideas about "proving" parentage(like George's mother's maiden name)?
