AMOS HILTON, Barnsley - who are his parents?

I'm trying to find who the parents of Amos Hilton were.  Amos was b.4 Jun 1786 in Lancashire, but later settled in Barnsley.  I think he died in 1868, at least one child was married at St. George's, so possibly they have his death cert.  Would this have his parents names?  Also, would there be an obituary at this time?

There is a baptism that matches that birth record so I can't say for sure that this is correct

There is a death in Barnsley in 1868 I doubt it would have his parents named on the death cert, there is a marriage listed in 1807 to a Elizabeth Hall witnesses were William Thompson & Frank Gothard these early marriages didn't have the fathers name listed.

That baptism looks to be correct, the transcript says the family were living in 'WHITEFIELD'.

Have looked in the newspapers what I can find but can see no obit in that timeframe. However did he have a son (probably too young) or nephew Amos ? There is an Amos Hilton of Barnsley being convicted of thieving in 1826 aged 26 and transported for 7 years.

I'm still not sure of parents...thanks for all the replies!  I have James & Ann Ketlett AND James & Ann Rothwell....I would like to know which James & Ann belong to Amos.  Amos never had a son Amos, that I can find from the census'.  Amos & Elizabeth Hull Hilton had a dau., Hannah who married George Wood from Barnsley, Yorkshire in 1835 at St. George's church.

I see your problem with the couples, the only difference between them is the marriage of James H and Ann Kellet, their parish is listed as Whitefield. The marriage of James Hilton and Ann Rothwell both list their parish as Oldham within the parish of Prestwich.

Not much in it at all

Unless a family member can come up with a family bible I think the choice is going to be hard the 1861 census says born Whitfield Lancashire sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling.
