On the 2nd of April 1919, The Yorkshire Post carried a news item - German's visit to Scarborough.  German born Paul Schafer was said to have entered the prohibited area of Scarborough in order to fulfil an engagement at a Picture House.  The Chief Constable of Scarborough said that due to a mistake on the part of a police sergeant in Huddersfield, Schafer was given a permit to go to Scarborough.  So far I have failed to find this man living in Huddersfield.  I don't know his age, but he is said to have a son serving during WW1, with the British Troops at Mons.  The son is thought to be called Carl/Paul or Paul Carl Schafer.  So far I have not managed to find father or son living in Huddersfield, although the father is supposed to live there from 1889.  Any help/suggestions would be welcomed.
