Earish
« on: Saturday 15 March 14 09:12 GMT (UK) »
good morning everyone, I seem to be hitting a brick wall on my granddads side of the family, I know he was born in 1912 married Margaret bitton in 1944, I know his dad was called henry earish and his mum annie Elizabeth yates, I cannot seem to find any other info about siblings he may or may not have had or anything further back than his parents. his dad was born in 1885 I think and died in 1929.

thanks in advance

 :) :) :)

Hello,

Free BMD has the marriage and some births in the indexes. This indicates that they were single in 1911 census.

Free BMD has a marriage 1866 John Earish and Ann E Gardam Sculcoates.

When you say you can't go further back than his parents, did you get thus far with Free BMD and now want yo progress with John and Ann?

Hello again,

have you used Free BMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

You can search those indexes. As has been said, there are 4 Earish births 1912- 1919  with mother's maiden name of Yates so it looks as though John Henry had 3 siblings.
These will not show in a census (last published one 1911).

regards

heywood

You have his parents as John Earish and Ann Gardam who were married in 1866. Do you have these on censuses? Here is the family in 1881 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X3FG-PGL

The marriage certificate would give you the fathers' names of John and Ann.

John was born abt 1835 Hunstanton, Norfolk according to censuses. 1841 census has a John aged 7 yrs with a John and Maria and several children. Relationships are not shown in 1841.
