Re the Charlotte Banks connection, if you look at the 1871 census  Piece: 864 Folio: 17 Page: 3       Red Lion Lane, Long Ditton County: Surrey, there is a big gap between the son George (20) and the next child William who is 6. As the mother Ann is only 32, she can't be George's mother, so it must be a second married for John Stone Banks. Perhaps the connection to the Smiths comes through him

Hi there groom yes I have seen this 1871 census record and you are correct George was from John Stonebanks first marriage to Elizabeth .Mary Ann Goodwin was his second wife who he married in 1863. I decided to follow Mary ann's line as the name Goodwin has come up before in my family tree could be just a coincidence though.
Just a wildcard to throw in to all you helpful people, I have come across a 1871 census record for Sydenham some time ago as follows;-
Eliza Reynolds B Smarden age 62
William Goodwin B Smarden age 29 B 1842 Brother
William Smith B Egerton age 51 cousin
Horatio Russell b smarden age 19 nephew Do you think this could be my eliza smith wrong age???
