Isabella MUIR~ married in NZ in 1851~

  Try as I might, I have been able to get no information at all about Isabella Muir.

              I know she married Robert Coxhead on 17th Feb 1851
                              and she had a sister Mary Muir, who became Mrs Hill.

                                    Robert arrived in 1842. from Aldbourne, Wilts. Eng.

                 Is there a kind soul, with time to spare, out there, who could
                                just give me a starter?

An "Isabella MUIR (Mrs COXHEAD)" appears in the 'Roll of Early Settlers and Descendants in the Auckland Province before 1852.'

I'll see if I can sight this source for you, and have a quick look at old electoral rolls. Do you know the ship they arrived on?

If Isabella Muir and Robert Coxhead were early settlers in New Zealand their descendants may have submitted information to the First Families Collection of the NZ Society of Genealogists (NZSG), but in any case the Society is likely to have other information you should find useful. I suggest you contact the NZSG via their website http://www.genealogy.org.nz/

Thanks Riley for repling so quick.

                   Although there is plenty of info on Robert.
            Isabella, seems to have just appeared.

                  Robert and his 2 brothers are the origins of Coxheads in NZ.
                      We all start out in "woodsend" near Aldbourne, Wilts.

                 I have a picture of Isabella, and that is that.
                    Her sister Mary Hill (nee Muir) was also in NZ.
        I wonder if the girls family arrived around the same time.

        Just found a new piece of info on Isabella,
                        that she was bapt. Glasgow.15th April 1832.

             So her family must have come/gone to N.Z. with them as  children.

Hey Riley, Thanks for all this.
                                That is really great Info.

                        The Duchess of Argyll and The Jane Gifford sailed together from England to New Zealand, I believe.
    After trawling through Pass lists for The Jane Gifford, 'cause I think Robert Coxhead was on that ship. But I now think he must of been a crew member, to get passage?

I kept coming across The Duchess of Argyll, at the time looking for Coxhead.

It looks like they travelled together but on different ships. Awh! How romantic.

      Wow, even more Coxhead's. I shall have to look up David and Emma.
   Perhaps they are following David's Uncles. 

     Robert had 2 brothers, William, on the "Josephine Willis" Jan 1855 and
                                          Charles,  "Caduceus"  May 1859.

                     It seems that all Coxhead's in NZ can trace back to these,  But with David
                                      in the picture... Hmmm.

I checked the pasenger list of the 'Jane Gifford' on the same site but couldn't see any COXHEAD, and crew weren't usually mentioned. I'd love to know where you found any crew lists.
