I didn't expect any follow-up to this enquiry, but delighted to have it to add to James's entry in my records.

On an aside ... the mention of 'Kirkwood' is surprising as 'new' members of this branch living in the Cellardyke, Fife area have the surname Kirkwood.

Pleased it was a nice surprise to get more info. Hopefully might be a few more snippets here you may or may not have.

The son of James and Anne was Gilbert Royce Bett and in his obituary it mentioned an aunt Alice Carrier. Here is the obit for Alice Royce Carrier.  Related thru his mother Annie Royce.
