George William Laws born 1852 Cambs
Alice???????????? his wife 1852 born Staffs, very many thanks.Margaret.

FreeBMD has the following:

George Laws and Alice Hurry appear on the same page - December quarter 1874, No Witchford Registration District, 3b page 1275.

There is nothing for George William Laws, with an "Alice" on the same page.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The 1911 is the only Census that Alice is given as born in Staffordshire.The other ones give her as born in Charteris Cambridgeshire.

FreeBMD again - the only Alice Hurry registered in England and Wales 1850 - 1860 is

June quarter 1853, Peterbro Registration District, 3b page 223

George William Laws was born 14 Dec. 1851 in Chatteris. He was baptized 8 Feb. 1852 in Chatteris.
Alice Hurry was born 25 May 1852 in Swan Village, Staffs. She was baptized 13 Nov. 1853 in Bradford St Peter, Yorks.
George and Alice were married in Chatteris on 18 Oct. 1874.
I have not yet found Alice's death/burial.
George died 3 Jan. 1912 and was buried in St Giles Church, Holme, Cambs. His small headstone reads.-
IN LOVING MEMORY OF GEORGE WILLIAM THE BELOVED HUSBAND OF ALICE LAWS WHO DIED JANUARY 3RD 1912.
George is my 2nd great grandfather.
