Hi

I have a baptism for George Henry WHITCHER in Gosport, Hampshire dated 8 March 1812 whose parents are 'Groves WHITCHER & Susannah'.

Does anybody know if there are any other children, where Groves came from and the maiden name of Susannah?

Any help will be gratefully received.

A possible connection?

Henry George Groves Whitcher, baptised 27 October 1814 at Harbridge, Hampshire. Illegitimate son of Henry Whitcher and Susanna Groves.

Hi Nanny Jan

I have found the baptisms in Harbridge (there are some which are WITCHELL's which I will check next time when in Winchester).  To put a cat among the pigeons there are baptisms in Sopley with Groves included as a Forename, but the father is only given as Henry.  There is also a marriage for Henry WHITCHER to a Mary GROVES 28 May 1793 in Sopley.  The plot thickens!!!
