Two things clear there:

No refunds
No return to the old site

Hi All,

Is anyone else having trouble logging in to FindMayPast?

I've had no trouble until today but when I try to, I get a 'Status Error 500' page come up. The page is covered in script and says something about unable to fulfil my request due to internal server problem, or something similar.

I can log in to FindMyPast.ie and FindMyPast.com but not FindMyPast.uk, which is who my account us with.

I can also log in if I use Internet Explorer but I use Firefox these days for pretty much everything and until now have had no problem.

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what it means?

I have sent them a message via their contact form but don't hold out too much hope of them answering. I have been switched over to the new format for a few days now.

Any ideas?

Regards Eliza.

Hi Eliza,

Like you have had no problems signing into FindMyPast using FF,  but until today  - I get an error message.   I can sign in with IE though.

Cheers

Oh OK,

Thanks very much KHP, I'm glad it's not just me (that sounds selfish, but you know what I mean).
Another FindMyPast glitch, hopefully they'll sort it out soon.

I was actually surprised I could sign in to FindMyPast.com and FindMyPast.ie as I had always thought they were quite separate before, despite being the same company. Perhaps I just had never tried to, can't quite remember.

Thanks again, that's reassuring.

Regards Eliza.

Hi KHP,

I'm back up and running again too with FF.

At least I'll know not to panic next time (there's sure to be a next time).

Who remembers the 1901 census fiasco? that went belly-up in seconds and was off line for 8 months.

I had quite forgotten about that! Made me take two years off family history and go back to college!

The census search forms have separate boxes for 'Birth Town' and 'Birth Place'.

I've contacted FindMyPast to ask what is the difference between the two terms, and how does one decide which box of the two to use.
