Since the family mentioned corresponds to family on Mary CALLAGHAN's funeral notice, I believe this is the Laurence CALLAGHAN married to Mary and it does say he was father to Richard CALLAGHAN of Parkes.

Laurence CALLAGHAN was born 31 July 1835 in Meath, Ireland to parents (Richard) Laurence CALLAGHAN and Mary HOOLIGAN

He married Mary McDERMOTT on 19 Jan 1869 in Orange NSW (on cert his name is Lawrence CALLGHAN) and he is a gold digger.  The consent of Patrick McDERMOTT, father of the bride was given.
