Huntingdonshire Quarter sessions
« on: Wednesday 22 June 05 10:55 BST (UK) »
Is it possible to get someone to look up Quarter session papers?  If so I have a few entry for James Dennis starting in 1837. I found one in 1842 when he was detained as a deserter from the 15th Regiment of foot and was to be transported for life.  I can not find him coming to Australia, so I would like to find out if he is the son of James and Sarah Dennisfrom Hail Weston.

The only way you can do this is visit the Huntingdon Records Office in Huntingdon or get someone to do this for you. Presumable you got the information from the A2A website. I did the same and a visit involved searching through large boxes of documents. I found what I wanted but it took a while.

I believe they offer a research service, check their website.

Hi Mike
Thank you for answering.  I don't think I will hire anybody just yet as I don't know if he belongs to my Dennis family.  I think that he could be a brother of my Samuel Dennis.
Is there a way of  looking at his details on his entry into the 15th Regiment of foot?  I need a way of finding out who his parents were.
Thanks
Michelle
