You haven't given the year - it was 1837 as per freebmd.  Parents marriage will be pre-civil registration as the September qtr 1837 was the first quarter post civil reg

Cheshire bmd shows mothers maiden name was Willis

I think you missed the point.  I asked if anyone could Please look at the catholic parish record.

I know that John Hadley married 3 times and I would like the info that is entered on the church record for his second wife.  Witnesses etc.

The third marriage was in Hull.  The first I really don't know but it was in Ireland.

For Francis, yes, sorry I did miss the year off and it was indeed 1837.  I have Mary Willis with a question mark as his mother.  I did not know that Cheshire bmd listed the mother's name for Francis but I have just looked and it's correct, thanks so the marriage is also correct.

Thank you for responding but I really would like the catholic records for the additional info.

My John Hadley or Sometimes referred to as John Adley I believe is not the same as the man who married Charlotte Fowden, hence the request for the PR.  many catholic records are more comprehensive than the GRO records and the fact that Charlotte Fowden marriage was not in a catholic church suggests it's an unlikely match.

I have spent a four figure sum on GRO records and have had to draw the line now that I am not working.

Thanks for your help.

My reply was that the marriage in December qtr 1838 was not to a Mary - it was to Charlotte

Freebmd has no John Hadley marriage in December qtr 1838 Stockport only a John Adley

According to the record John Adley was only 20 years old and a bachelor when he married Charlotte Fowden in 1838 so not the correct one.

Francis Hadley/Adley with mother's maiden name Willis is the only birth to be found in Stockport. According to the 1841 census Mary was only 30 years old at the time so I would have thought more children.
Cheshire BMD shows a Stockport death for a Mary Hadley aged 35 in 1845 so it's possible that this was the mother of Francis.

In 1851 Frances, age out a bit showing as born 1835, and his father John are living with the Shea family in Yorkshire. There is a possible John Hadley/Mary Shea marriage in Yorkshire in Sept 1849
 http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

So it's possible that the Willis marriage was the second one making the Shea marriage number three and another child George 10months old.

Shonagh,

The only way to be certain about the parents of Francis will be to buy the birth certificate. As for the marriage.....if it was in Stockport and at a Catholic Church .... it was likely to have been at the Chapel of St Philip and St James and as far as I'm aware they are not on line. I'm not sure if Cheshire Records have the registers but it might be worth a try.
