Army Marriage Records

I have a conundrum and wondered whether anyone can help

My great x 3 grandfather, Henry William Woodforde Plant was a Canadian, who was a commisionary in the British Army, having taken over the role from his father.

Henry was born in around 1810 in New Brunswick, and most of his career was spent in the West Indies - which is traceable through the Army List.

However, my problem is that I don't know if there is anyway in which I can get details of his first wife.

She was apparently the daughter of the Italian Consul to Jamaica, but I don't know whereabouts or when in the West Indies they were married, only that her first name was Elizabeth (surname may have been Simonelli / Schemchelli, but this is just guesses I have seen from relatives)

I would really love to find out her surname, but I have no clue where else I can look.

From Canadian newspaper archives I know that she died in New Brunswick on 03/03/1849 aged 26, but that is literally all I know

She had children born in Jamaica and Guyana prior to her death

Any help or advice would really be very much appreciated.  I have looked in British Army BMDs, but can't seem to find anything.  Whether this is due to the fact he was a Canadian working in the role, I do not know.  This is being a persistant brick wall which gets more frustrating as years pass!

Hi Trevor

Thank you

It is odd, on google and in books there is tonnes about his second wife, and family, but the first wife and the earlier children just disappear.  I think colonial records in the West Indies aren't overally great, but don't know where else to look!
