Arthur BUNDY -drowned in Thames 1894
« on: Friday 21 February 14 07:22 GMT (UK) »
My 2nd great grandfather Arthur BUNDY  (b. Mar 1846, Downton, Wiltshire) drowned in the Thames.  His body was discovered at the Teddington Weir on Nov 5, 1894..a few day before the high waters of the big flood of that year.  He resided at 27 Florence Road (now York).  Would love to know more details from newspaper accounts, coroner's reports or the like..Michael

Hi Michael

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Have you tried contacting Richmond Local Studies?

http://www.richmond.gov.uk/home/leisure_and_culture/local_history_and_heritage/local_studies_collection/about_local_studies.htm

They have newspapers on microfilm from 1854

Hi and welcome to Rootschat
I had a quick look for references in Newspapers on FindMyPast with out luck. Did your Bundy's also connect with   Reading there is an item in the Reading mercury about an Arthur Bundy in 1869 too late for the drowned chap but knowing your connection with the town i just wondered if it was remotely possible

No connection so far in Reading.  My Bundys seem to all have been from Wiltshire (Downton).  Arthur that drowned was born in Downton, married a Maria Smith in Surrey, then drowned in the Thames in 1894 leaving a pregnant wife and a fairly large family.  They lived on Florence Avenue, now called York, in Teddington.

Thanks for your try,

Michael
