Name gatherers on Ancestry......an amazing complicated link
« on: Monday 17 February 14 10:16 GMT (UK) »
Recently I asked the owner of a tree on Ancestry how they were related to my gggrandfather..This is the reply....Legacy family tree tells me that my wife Susan relationship to William....William is Susan's 3rd cousin 3 times removed wifes aunts husbands great grand nephews wife's grandauntshusbands father.
Are you still with me......I've never worked it out nor did I get in touch with more information.Looking at this tree there were hundreds of names and I bet they were not fully researched with evidence.

So, if that is William's relation to Susan, what is the relationship between you and Susan  ??? ??? ???

Excellent answer and I'm not sure anyone could follow it.

You  must be relieved the tree owner is able to show he is NOT a relative.  Can you just imagine the complicated ways he would need to explain how your great grandchildren (whenever they come along) would be related to his great grandchildren (whenever this generation comes along of course).  If he started explaining at breakfast would he have almost finished by supper?

Cheers JM

Pheeeeeew....... that gives me a headache.

That's not a 'GOOD' advertisement for a family tree program.
I think I shall steer well clear of using this to record my family history if, it can not calculate
a proper relationship list.

I have read this several times and still can not understand what is originally said.

It's way over my head.   ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
