 ???Can anyone tell me if they have any info on the Warwick House of Correction, St.Mary district Warwickshire.   I've been googling away but cannot find out if this was a poor house or a prison for young offenders etc, also can the inmates records be assessed anywhere thanks all in the hopes of a reply....Jane

Can you give me the name of the person who you are researching, and will have a look for you, have you check the Criminal Register,  It may be some sort of Industrial School

What date(s) are you interested in?

From 1811 to 1860 I can find plenty of mention of "committed to Warwick House of Correction", often sentenced with "hard labour".

In 1860 the sale of County Prisons was advertised ie "The Justices of the County of Warwick are prepared to receive tenders for the purchase of the buildings comprising the old house of correction belonging to the County, situate in the Borough of Warwick, together with the site, containing an area of 3,300 square yards"

The last commitment to this institution I can find is 1863.

I am looking for a Harriet Baker c.1827 in 1841 I think that she is in the house of correction and I wanted to know if the inmates in there are on line.....Thanks for your info it is useful....Jane
